On September 25-26, agricultural experts from Turkey visited the Rural Support Service of Latvia (RSS) in order to discuss experience of RSS in working with clients, available support for farmers, variety of investment measures, creation of RSS information system, the use of modern technologies etc. Experts also visited several companies in Latvia.
Kristīne Ilgaža, Director of the Department of Strategic Communication and Customer Management, revealed RSS goals and main tasks, described cooperation with other state institutions and farmers' organizations, informed about diverse support measures and the growth of whole agriculture sector since Latvia joined European Union. Guests were very interested in the Electronic Application System and Mobile App, as well as the possibilities of work with robots and virtual assistants.
Artūrs Šluburs and Lana Rika, specialists of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Project Control Division, presented RSS control system for investment measures, described how controls are carried out both remotely and in person.
Turkish delegation visited the sugarcane factory "Rāmkalni Nordeco". Representatives of company told the story about sugarcane production, largest export markets. Guests from Turkey were interested in the EU-funded projects and their implementation process.
How does milk taste in Latvia? The answer was found in Ltd. "Vienotnes", where representatives showed how the farm is managed.
Delegation Turkish agricultural experts acknowledged that this two - day visit was very important and expressed its desire to cooperate with RSS further.
