Latvija ES 20, zvejas tīkls jūrā

Fisheries and aquaculture are important sectors for the economy in Latvia, as well as for the preservation of fishing tradition. In 20 years since Latvia has become a member of European Union, the fishing industry has received significant support. During these years, investment of EU funds in the industry is more than 410 million euros. For example, of this amount more than 150 million euros were paid for the development of production, 125 million euros for the development of fisheries. Fishermen have implemented more than 3,800 projects in various activities and thus promoted the growth of whole industry.

What are the goals for year 2021-2017?

the goal of European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) during the planning period of 2021-2027 2018 is sustainable and competitive development of fishery and aquaculture industry in Latvia. Funding for infrastructure improvement, innovation and research will help ensure the sustainability and adaptation of these industries to changing economic and environmental conditions. The promotion of social inclusion and development of local communities is also an important part of EMFAF strategy, which will help improve the quality of life and the economic situation in coastal regions.
