On September 20-22, 2022, Rural Support Service of Latvia participates in the Conference of Paying Agencies of the Baltic States and Poland in Toruń, Poland. The purpose of meeting is to discuss all current issues, to prepare for new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) planning period, as well as to discuss the ways of more successful work in this crisis conditions.
RSS presented its experience on modern communication with farmers (Electronic Application System, mobile app, approach to client service and the use of artificial intelligence), automated processes in the administration process and implementation of the area monitoring system.
Participants expressed interest about new conditions for receiving area payments, especially in eco-schemes. Interesting discussions were on investment measures for young farmers and small farms, as well as on the application of procurement procedures.
Janusz Wojciechowski, Agriculture Commissioner for the European Commission, addressed participants of the conference, emphasizing the role of payment agencies in the development of agriculture area. He also stressed that all countries have to continue to work very purposefully in order to overcome the crisis.
During the conference, RSS director Girts Krūmins emphasized: "At the moment, when new CAP planning period begins, warfare is taking place and we have to think about provision of food, the exchange of experience and the ability to cooperate is very essential. We need to support each other in order to perform our work as best and as qualitatively as possible."
