On September 21, 2023, high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Payment Agency and other institutions from Kosovo visited the Ministry of Agriculture and the Rural Support Service of Latvia (RSS). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss Latvia's experience and lessons learned about the time when Latvia was preparing to join European Union in 2004. To find out how Latvia uses EU funds in agriculture today.
RSS specialists Indulis Āboliņš, Juris Cvetkovs, Artūrs Šluburs, Inga Malashenko and Kristīne Ilgaža described the history of institution’s establishment and its growth during these 23 years. There was also a presentation on the progress of investment projects implementation process, performed controls and achieved results. The delegation from Kosovo was also interested in the diversity of information systems and technologies usage at RSS.
Nataļja Silicka, representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, talked about the management and control system in the implementation of EU funds, as well as about the Common Agricultural Policy in Latvia.
During the visit, further opportunities for cooperation between the Agricultural Payment Agency of Kosovo and RSS were also discussed.
